At the end of May, for the celebration of the arrival of many African heads of state in Yokohama , an African Festival was held in Pacifico. I went to listen to presentations from different African countries but also to discover different artistic shapes created from wood. The works represent mostly scenes of daily life, usually putting out the African woman and her children....But the masks are also one of their traditional objects that they perfectly make. They may have various forms (long, round, oval various decorations ...), but their common point still remains the sobriety of the different colors used.
The objects that attracted my attention the most were the pictures made of butterflies wings juxtaposed with each other. Looking at those pictures, (for example the one in the top right), would you think for one second that it is composed of a multitude of butterflies wings? Amazing isn't it?
